Raid Shadow Legends: Mountain King Champion Guide

Mountain King is a legendary force affinity champion from the Dwarves faction in Raid Shadow Legends. He is predominantly an Arena champion and one of the best defensive champions for this content. Featuring high survivability with the capability to deal high levels of damage to opponents. Mountain King has extremely high base HP (31,050) making him the perfect tank. It is important to build him with crit rate and damage in mind too, as he has damage scaling. As we’ve already mentioned, Mountain King is strong in the Arena, but he is also great in Faction Wars. In this guide we will cover both areas in depth. Including information on mastery selection, gear and stats, team compositions, strategy and more.

Mountain King Arena Build Guide

Moutain King is a Force Affinity Legendary Champion from the Dwarf Faction. True to his name he is famous for being the champion with the highest base HP and accordingly he is hardest hitting HP based champion in the game. His skill kit is quite simple. Mountain King deals high single target damage. So booking him will impact the damage he does since all books do is improve his damage. However, you do not need to do so if the damage without books is sufficient. Lowering the skill cooldowns is a nice bonus if you can get to that stage.

Masteries

The masteries for Mountain King in this guide are aimed at a go-second arena team because Mountain King has a really low base speed and usually will not be built to have high speed. The usual nuker masteries such as Bring it down are selected as Mountain King is unlikely to have a lower Max HP than the enemy. Cycle of violence is a good choice as he is likely to deal more damage than 30% of their max HP in one hit. Whirldwind of Death and Kill Streak are taken since MK will most likely one-shot enemies and gain increase speed and damage. The standard Helmsmasher T6 mastery is selected for the best DPS option in Arena as it provides the highest chance to ignore DEF. Note that this requires good equipment and usually picked for champions with 100% Crit Rate and 220%+ Crit Damage.

Mountain King does not place any buffs or debuff so Defense Tree is the way to go. Improved Parry is taken to reduce incoming Crit damage and Bloodthirst is picked for healing whenever he kills someone. 10% may not seem a lot, but Mountain King has high base HP, so it works out quite well. Wisdom of battle is particularly useful in the case of being CCed as he will not be stacking resist. Delayed Death to reduce damage taken and both T5 Counterattack masteries for a chances to counterattack with Mountain King’s A1.

Gear & Stats Build

There are currently two popular ways to build Mountain King: Relentless and Shield sets. This guide will be covering Mountain King in a Shield Set. You can pair the Shield set with an Immortal set for more HP and regen at start of turn or Frostbite for a chance to freeze the attacker as Mountain King will always be on a go second team and this could disrupt their second turn.

Shield set is an amazing set on Mountain King because he has the highest base HP in the game, so building him with High HP is very easy. Also, he deals damage based on HP, so building him with High HP also amplifies his damage. Finally, he provides a huge Shield to your team allowing them to survive hits if the shields are not stripped.

Even in the Shield set, there are two different builds one as a Pure Shield Provider, the second is a Shield Provider and a nuker. For the Pure Shield Provider build, all you need is just to build him with as high HP as possible. All the other stats don’t matter.

However, the Damage Dealing Shield Provider is the preferred build. Prioritize building him with High HP, ideally 100k+, 100% Crit Rate and as high Crit Damage as possible. Defence is not important as you are likely to be debuffed anyway but a High HP should prevent being 1 shot. He is also Force affinity that is strong affinity against the most popular Nukers like Trunda and Foli who are Magic. Speed isn’t a top priority but it does help to ensure you don’t get lapped too many times and he gets killed before taking a turn. Even having a non-rolled speed substat at least allows more speed to be glyphed as well.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Gloves: Crit damage
  • Chest: HP%
  • Boots: HP%
  • Ring: HP
  • Neck: Crit Damage
  • Banner: HP

Team Composition

The team below has good synergy for going second. Brogni and Mountain King work well together as Brogni’s passive will work with Mountain Kings larger shield due to his higher base HP. As you can see in the video featured below, Mountain King does get off a few good counterattacks that can sometimes one-shot or nearly kill a nuker/debuffer if the enemy is unprepared.

Unfortunately being Force affinity means he is better for defence than offence as using Mountain King on offence will often lead you to having him as weak affinity to Spirit champions and in particular Duchess, who is quite common in late Gold 4 arena nowadays. Mountain King paired with Brogni can lead to Nuke Hegemon taking himself out at the start of the match which is a great start of the battle. Mountain King can be used to great effect on defence when paired with Lydia as killing the enemy DPS while she is alive risks her passive blocking the revive.

Faction Wars

Mountain King is also very helpful in the Dwarf FW 21. This team consists of:

  1. Mountain King providing the shield protection for the team and damage.
  2. Gala Longbraids providing DPS.
  3. Rearguard Sergeant offering Decrease Def, Decrease Attack, and Ally Protection.
  4. Rock Breaker to AOE Provoke for CC.
  5. Brogni for his shield synergy, heals, and block debuffs.

It is generally advised to manual before going into wave 2 to conserve cooldowns and prevent bad RNG with Maneater getting his Unkillable and Block Debuffs which can make the run more difficult especially if Gala dies to the Jarang and Dracomorph. This team doesn’t have a reviver, so everyone needs to survive to get the 3 star completion. Once you get the 3 stars, you can run this full auto as the is still able to clear the stage even if someone dies. The first wave does not pose a threat at all, and the boss doesn’t realistically pose a threat with this comp either as although the boss hits very hard, it is not able to break through Mountain King’s huge shield during those turns. Wave 2 is the most problematic here due to the unkillable buffs/debuffs.

Eternal Dragon in Hard Doom Tower

Apart from Arena, Mountain King also has some uses in certain other niche contents in this game with the exact same build. Mountain King can be used in the Force Attack Secret Room of the Eternal Dragon rotation of Hard Doom Tower.

He protects all the other Attack champions in the team who are much squishier so that they can withstand a round of attacks from the enemy and push through. The shield set was absolutely integral to keeping this team alive due to the nature of their stats. As you can see Mountain King delivers considerable damage despite being unbooked.

A strong team composition and roles for this battle are as follows:

  1. Mountain King provides the shield protection for the team and damage.
  2. Brakus for AOE Fear, ATK Up and DPS.
  3. Abbess for AOE Def Down and DPS.
  4. Robar for DPS.
  5. Basilisk for CC.
