Gnishak Verminlord Solo Build Guide

Gnishak Verminlord is a Legendary Attack champion from the Skinwalkers faction. He is one of the strongest Poison champions in the game as every skill of his relates to Poison in some way – his A1 and A3 set Bomb debuffs that apply Poisons upon detonation and his A2 extends the duration of any Poisons on enemies.

As is the case with many strong Poisoners, Gnishak is capable of soloing some of the late game Dungeons and Doom Tower bosses. As Gnishak provides no means of self sustainability, he requires Regeneration/Bolster/Immortal gear for such builds. What does make stat requirements somewhat easier to achieve is Gnishak has both an Extra Turn (allowing him to receive double Healing off of his sets on some turns) as well as AoE Decrease Attack (which substantially reduces the amount of damage he takes during these runs).

Masteries

Depending on your needs and the stats you are able to achieve, there are several Mastery setups that could work for Gnishak. Of the selection shown below, the primary focus is increasing the value of Heals (such as Lay on Hands), increasing Turn Meter (such as Oppressor) and damage reduction (such as Blastproof). The noteworthy choices are Spirit Haste that grants additional Speed once fodder champions are killed and Arcane Celerity that grants Turn Meter once Bomb debuffs detonate or Poisons expire. You could also choose to go with either Unshakeable or Eagle Eye in place of Oppressor should you lack either Resistance or Accuracy.

Another choice that you could opt for is forfeiting the Defense Tree in favour of Offense. While most mastery choices here do not benefit Gnishak’s solo capabilities, Whirlwind of Death grants additional Speed should that this stat be lacking and Warmaster can aid his damage output and allow for faster runs. However, Warmaster is a dangerous choice against Ice Golem as it can trigger the bosses passive which can lead to unsuccessful runs.

Gear & Stats Build

In order for Gnishak to be able to solo content he requires sets that provide Healing such as Regeneration or Bolster. Bloodshield is also a requirement for soloing Scarab King. While Bombs are capable of providing substantial damage, relying on Gnishak’s Poison debuffs allows us to focus building his HP and Defense stats, making him tanky and hard to kill. Another stat to focus on is Speed as the more turns he takes, the faster he Heals back up.

Accuracy and Resistance are also important stats to focus on with Gnishak with the their levels depending on the content you are aiming to clear. Accuracy for Dungeon 25 stages is 220 or so and 350 for the final floor of Scarab King in Doom Tower Hard.

Soloing Dragon requires much less Resistance than other content as the Dragon’s Stun is the only debuff of concern and this cannot be Resisted – around 240 Resistance is sufficient for this. Ice Golem requires Resistance in the neighbourhood of 320 (and there are far more problematic debuffs to deal with such as Heal Reduction and Decrease Accuracy) and the final floor of Scarab King requiring around 370 Resistance.

Solo Dungeon Run Strategies

Dragon 25

Gnishak has clear viability as a solo Dungeon clear champion. Running him with fodder champions allows you to efficiently farm both gear and XP at the same time. Gnishak does have a quirky AI as he prioritizes his A2 if Bombs are out on enemies already, rather than putting out more Bombs with his A3 first and then using his A2. Setting his A3 as priority would speed up the runs a little as you may rack up Poisons faster.

Faction Wars

Gnishak can also quite easily solo the Skinwalkers Faction Crypt. He is well suited to the Stage 21 boss who has a debuff transfer skill since Gnishak’s Poisons are Protected and thus can’t be reflected back to Gnishak himself. So, even if you’re lacking in Resistance, Gnishak will only receive a Decrease Attack debuff.

Ice Golem 25

While Gnishak is often able to solo clear Ice Golem 25, the 2nd wave of this floor possesses both Increase Crit Rate buffs and Increase Atk buffs. This allows the enemies to hit substantially harder and can spoil solo runs. As such, the stat requirements are fairly higher than most solo builds to achieve consistent clears hence the addition of Elva as an additional safety net.

Scarab King

Poison is a fairly fast way to clear the Scarab King Doom Tower boss. In the following run, Mithrala is used simply for her Aura skill to assist Gnishak with his runs.

Some form of Bloodshield accessory is required for this as it would be impossible to out-heal the damage from the counterattacks. Workable Resistance is also important as without it, Gnishak could get Provoke locked and have Decrease Speed placed on him (which means less healing), leaving him unable to place Decrease Attack on the boss (which means more damage) and can lead to unsuccessful runs.
