Raid Shadow Legends: Galek Champion Guide

Galek, an adept Magic affinity champion affiliated with the Orc Faction, factors into a pivotal choice players face early on in Raid Shadow Legends—deciding on their starter champion. Although Galek doesn’t top the recommended list compared to Kael and Athel, both of whom offer more advantages, he stands out as a robust rare champion with significant early-game potential. Galek can serve various roles, excelling as a campaign farmer, an arena nuker, or an efficient dungeon wave clearer. Notably, his A3 ability introduces a valuable debuff, featuring a multi-hit decrease defense effect.

For optimal performance, it is advisable to prioritize accuracy in your build if you aim to ensure the successful application of the decrease defense debuff. Alternatively, if this aspect doesn’t align with your strategy, a full nuke build tailored for the Arena can be a compelling alternative.

Galek Early Game Guide

Galek is the face of the Raid app and one of the starter champions you can pick in the early game. Despite being a jack of all trades and master of none and being considered one of the weaker starters in the mid and late game, he is still able to do his job of farming the campaign and building your other champions splendidly. If you already have him at a decent level he can be brought to a level where you don’t have to reroll and account and play with your favourite green Orc.

Masteries

The Offense tree is most important for this champion, with at least two variants to pick between. Deadly Precision and Keen Strike are recommended as part of Galek’s baseline (along with Kill Streak later on). Heart of Glory is also highly recommended. For campaign farming and wave clearing, Ruthless Ambush, Wrath of the Slain, and Cycle of Violence are great choices. Blood Shield helps mitigate any incoming damage.

If he’s needed for Clan Boss and dungeons, Single Out, Methodical, and Bring it Down help increase single-target damage. Life Drinker is an option but overlaps with the Lifesteal set bonus.

The Support tree helps with Speed and Accuracy. Pinpoint Accuracy and Swarm Smiter are helpful while Exalt in Death offers a heal and Lore of Steel increases the base stat increases from gear. Finally, Spirit Haste is a nice complement to Kill Streak. Charged Focus in the second tier can be an alternative to Exalt in Death if the Decrease Defense on Galek’s A3 is a priority. Sniper fulfills a similar role at the bottom of the tree, but the consistency of Spirit Haste is hard to ignore.

However, the Defense tree is not recommended due to Galek’s relatively weak A1. In this showcase only tier-3 masteries have been selected, so if you follow the guide it will be more than enough to farm the campaign if you also select Warmaster as the final T6 mastery by bying it for 800 gems. It’s not required to succeed, but can be helpful if you’re struggling.

Gear & Stats Build

Early gear available to new players is able to equip a formidable Galek. Currently, the Lifesteal set you receive in the first 6 days (1 piece each day, 6 pieces for each champion – weapon, helm, shield, gauntlets [gloves], chestplate, and boots) is critical. All 6 pieces can be used by Galek if they represent the best stats available, just be sure to roll the gear to 8 and then 12 when possible. Boots greatly benefit from being fully rolled up to 16 as soon as possible, followed by the gloves and then chest.

The Lifesteal set is crucial for farming the campaign safely on auto so make sure to prioritise it on Galek as a farmer in all cases even if you get better gear pieces.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Weapon – ATK main stat
  • Helmet – HP main stat
  • Shield – DEF main stat
  • Gauntlets – Crit Rate % main stat
  • Chestplate – ATK % main stat
  • Boots – SPD main stat

Useful substats to aim for include Speed, Crit Rate%, ATK %, HP%, and DEF% with Resistance and Crit Damage bringing up the rear. ‘Flat’ main stats (i.e. HP 275) on the 3 bottom amor pieces – gauntlets, chestplate, and boots should always be avoided early on. Any rings help. Glyphs are useful to enchant gear and increase the % and flat stats from clearing Faction Crypt stages when possible.

One set that is helpful throughout the game is Perception, a set crafted in the Forge. This feature of Bastion unlocks at player level 35 and allows you to create random pieces from specific sets whose materials are collected from the Arena, Faction Crypts, or Doom Tower. Try to craft 5 and 6 star items there as soon as possible.

More gearing options become available as you progress. For example, Galek can take advantage of a 2-piece set bonus to complement the healing from the 4 required pieces of Lifesteal. Options include Speed, Offense, Resistance (useful for resisting Lord Shazar’s bombs on the 3rd wave of 12-3), and orphan or ‘broken’ pieces from any set that have great stats.
