The Scythe of Vitur is widely regarded as the best melee weapon in Oldschool Runescape. It is a two handed weapon requiring 80 attack and 90 strength to equip. The Scythe has a special effect, allowing it to hit up to three enemies at once in a 1×3 arc around the player. Additionally, it will hit a large target (equal or bigger than 2 tiles) three times in the same attack. With each hit being rolled independently, with the second hit dealing 50% of the normal hit and the third dealing 25% of the normal hit.
Scythe’s are obtained exclusively as a rare reward from the Theatre of Blood. Players can cosmetically enhance the scythe through completing Hard Mode ToB. Where they will get the chance to receive untradable rewards such as the Holy Ornamenet Kit and the Sanguine Ornament Kit. When combined with the Scythe they form the Holy Scythe of Vitur and the Sanguine Scythe of Vitur respectively.
Scythe of Vitur Stats
As you can see the scythe is a slash weapon. While it’s base max hit is not particularly high, this item excels when facing multiple small monsters at once in multi-combat or large targets.
As most high-level PvM such as bossing and raids requires fighting large monsters. This makes the Scythe particularly strong in these scenarios, usually a best in slot item.
Charging the Scythe
The Scythe can hold up to 20,000 charges at once. To charge the item you must use a at least 300 blood runes and one vial of blood, this is equivalent to 100 charges. Take the Scythe, Blood Runes and Blood Vials to the Vyre well next to the bank in Ver Sinhaza to charge the item. To fully charge the item with 20,000 charges, you will need 60,000 blood runes and 200 vials of blood. Each hit will reduce one charge regardless of how much damage is dealt.
Charges can be removed in the same way they are added. All of the blood runes and blood vials from the remaining charges will be returned, but rounded down to the nearest 100. For example, if the player has 1,011 charges remaining, they will receive the raw materials required for 1,000 charges back.
Is scythe of vitur worth it?
Yes, the Scythe of Vitur will always be a super important item in PvM. It has lots of implications for high level PvM and money making methods, including raids and other bosses.
