The Catacombs of Kourend is a huge dungeon, located directly beneath the city of Kourend. It houses a large amount of mid to high level monsters and is an extremely common area for those training the slayer skill.
How to get to the Catacombs of Kourend?
The Catacombs are located beneath Kourend. There is five entrances that players can use as seen in the map below, highlighted with the green pins. The fastest method of reaching the Catacombs is to use Xeric’s talisman and teleport to “Xeric’s Heart”. Although this method requires the Kourend Castle teleport to be unlocked prior. A portal chamber or portal nexus in the PoH with a Kourend Castle teleport also works.
What monsters are in the Catacombs?
The Catacombs is home to a huge list of Monsters. The list is as follows; Abyssal Demons, Black Demons, Ghosts, Greater Demons, Nechryaels, Bloodvelds, Lesser Demons, Bronze Dragons, Brutal Black Dragons, Brutal Blue Dragons, Brutal Red Dragons, Fire Giants, Hellhounds, Iron Dragons, Steel Dragons, Ankou, Cyclops, Aberrant Spectres, Hill Giants, Magic Axes, Moss Giants, Possessed Pickaxes, Shades, Skeletons, Banshee, Dagannoths, Dust Devils, Sand Crabs, and Jellies.

Beneath the Catacombs Altar
Monsters within the Catacombs will drop dark totem pieces as you kill them as an uncommon drop. Once you have collected and assembled three individual pieces into a complete dark totem, you are eligible to fight Skotizo, a demi-boss located beneath the Catacombs. To fight him players will need to take the dark totem and use it on the altar in the centre of the Catacombs. You can check out our Skotizo guide to see how to defeat this demi-boss.
