What are the Best Melee Helms in OSRS?

1. Torva Full Helm

The Torva Full Helm is currently the best melee helm in OSRS. It has the highest strength bonus of any helmet at +8. The helmet also offers very strong defensive bonuses for ranged and melee. Although, it does give negative magical and ranged bonuses, so is not ideal for hybriding.

How to get the Torva Full Helm?

A damaged torva full helm can be obtained as a unique reward from killing Nex. It can then be combined with one bandosian component to create the functional version of the helm. This process requires level 90 smithing.

2. Neitiznot Faceguard

The Neitiznot Faceguard is the second best melee helmet in OSRS. It has a strength bonus of +6, only 2 behind the Torva Full Helm. Additionally, this helm has no negative attack bonuses, making it great for hybrid scenarios.

The Neitiznot Faceguard also requires completion of the Fremennik Exiles to equip. In addition to a minimum of level 70 defence.

How to get a Neitiznot Faceguard?

The Neitiznot Faceguard can be made by combining a Basilisk Jaw with a helm of Neitiznot. The Jaw can be obtained by killing Basilisks.

3. Serpentine Helm

The Serpentine Helm is a strong melee helm for players to use. It has a strength bonus of +5 and has a level 75 defence requirement to equip. The item has a passive effect, whereby it provides the chance to inflict venom on the opponent during combat. Additionally, the user is immune to all venom and poison.

How to get the Serpentine Helm?

The Serpentine Helm is created by using a chisel on a serpentine visage and charging the helm with Zulrah Scales. The Serpentine Visage can be obtained by killing Zulrah, with a drop rate of 1/512.

4. Inquisitor’s Great Helm

The Inquisitor’s Great Helm is a crush based melee helmet. It provides +4 melee strength bonus but also has +8 crush attack bonus. This makes it particularly strong when using crush weapons such as the Dragon Warhammer and Inquisitor’s Mace.

Additionally, the item requires level 70 strength and only 30 defence. Making it one of the best melee helms for low defence pking builds, such as zerkers.

How to get the Inquisitor’s Great Helm?

The Inquisitor’s Great Helm can be obtained by killing the Nightmare or Phosani’s Nightmare.

5. Helm of Neitiznot

The Helm of Neitiznot is one of the best budget melee helms in OSRS. It requires a minimum of level 55 defence to equip and provides +3 melee strength bonus. The item itself holds a consistently cheap value of around 40-50k gold. But, can only be worn after completion of The Fremennik Isles quest.

How to get a Helm of Neitiznot?

The helm of Neitiznot is obtained upon completing The Fremennik Isles quest. It can be re-obtained from various lost property shops if lost. Alternatively, players can buy it directly from the Grand Exchange.
