Where to kill Ammonite Crabs in OSRS?
Players can kill the Ammonite Crab exclusively on Fossil Island. Therefore, having completed the bone voyage quest is a requirement. You can find them in three separate locations around the Island, these are as follows:
- Mushroom Forest
- Fossil Island Volcano
- Wyvern Cave
The most popular place to kill them is around the outskirts of the mushroom forest. As players can find a large number of spawns in close proximity.
To reach the area you can use a dig site pendant to teleport directly to fossil island. Alternatively you can use a dig site teleport scroll and use the barge to travel to Fossil Island, run north and find the crabs there. Or walk from varrock to the dig site, boarding the barge by the same method.

Are Sand Crabs or ammonite crabs better?
Ammonite Crabs are better for training combat skills on. As they have a total of 100 hit points in comparison to sand crabs which only have 60. This means you can stay in combat for longer durations of time. This is significantly noticeable as you reach higher levels and can kill both monsters much faster. If you have access to Fossil Island then use Ammonites over sand crabs.
What kind of xp per hour to expect?
Experience per hour with Ammonite crabs ranges anywhere from 10,000 to 70,000. As with all combat training methods this varies greatly. Depending on your current combat levels and the type of gear you are using to kill the crabs.
Best spots for killing Ammonite Crabs?
The best spots for killing these crabs can be found in the southern part, slightly north-east of the tree patches. You will find two locations where you can stand and be attacked by 3 aggressive ammonite crabs simultaneously. This is shown in the image below.
