Raid Shadow Legends: Rotos the Lost Groom Champion Guide

Rotos the Lost Groom is a legendary magic affinity champion from the undead hordes faction in Raid Shadow Legends. Previouslty, Roto was known to be one of the strongest arena champions in the game when paired with Siphi the Lost Bride. However, due to it being considered overpowered by many players, Rotos was subsequently nerfed. Regardless of this, he still remains one of the meta champions for both arena and clan boss. As such we have provided detailed guidance on how to build Rotos for offensive arena teams and clan boss teams in this champion guide.

Rotos Arena Build Guide

Rotos was one of the strongest of the attack champions before he was nerfed, and remains an extremely strong contender. He can hit extremely hard when fully booked and is viable in a wide variety of late game content.

A big portion of his power comes from “RNG” extra turns (passive), and his partial ignore defence A3 ability. Rotos is a hard-hitting single target nuker and can severely damage key members of an unbuffed/unprotected enemy team in Arena – because Rotos can cut in attack sequences, e.g. from Hegemons that sit tightly in the Platinum arena spots.

Masteries

Mastery wise, Rotos works best when he’s maximising damage output. For a Late Game+ dps champion on Arena with more than 100% Crit Rate and 220+ Crit Damage the final T6 mastery Helmsmasher for ignoring defence provides the best results. In the defence tree Retribution is important for opportunity of extra turns on A1. Let’s go through the other key masteries:

  • We picked shield breaker early on over Heart of Glory or Grim Resolve because Rotos is neither likely to be at full HP (often not a go first team), nor likely to be below 50% HP often (see passive)
  • Ruthless ambush and Singled Out and Bring it Down for killing targets that are heavily injured and on first hit and those with higher HP
  • Cycle of Violence is really important as Rotos will trigger this often, bringing his devastating A2 and A3 around that have short cooldowns
  • Blood Shield and Kill Streak were selected, but Methodical and Stoked to Fury are also viable option

If you are using Rotos you might want to fully book him as the damage and cooldowns are significantly improved in that scenario.

Gear & Stats Build

Rotos requires high damage for best results and hence Savage set is crucial (25% ignore defence). Coupled with A3 (60% ignore defence) you have 85% ignore. You can add a further 5% via cruel set and Helmsmasher T6 is also devastatingly helpful for A1 and A2.

For gear sub-stat reasons, Speed off-set was used in this build as it’s tricky to reach the required numbers. Rotos needs to have high damage (5k+ attack, 240%+ cd) and doesn’t have to be that fast (because he can cut in with attacks of opportunity due to passive). His Accuracy is not particularly important in arena, because you should have other sources of defence down (or none needed at all against soft targets).

You are looking for items with Crit Rate, Crit Damage and Atk% substats in particular.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Glove: Crit Damage
  • Chest: Attack%/Resist,
  • Boots: Speed/Attack%
  • Ring: Attack Att% and HP% substat
  • Amulet: Crit Damage Att and resist substat
  • Banner: Att/Resist Att% substat

Any cooldown reset accessory is extremely favourable and will increase the power of Rotos considerably. Having the proc on A3 allows to take an extra turn for Rotos for example.

Alternative gearing Builds: as speed and acc are not strict requirements, you can build Rotos to have either very high attack% or some Resistance against nuke hegemons. For example, you can drop 20-30 speed for attack boots (+500 attack) or resist chest + banner (+190 resist). There are many ways to make Rotos work for different purposes.

Offensive Arena Team & Strategy

Rotos in the current arena meta, is primarily used at the high end as a counter against Hegemon. Ideally 2 Rotos on the team can take advantage of Hegemon going first, triggering the passive of Rotos and allowing them to cut into the turn sequence and cause trouble.

Rotos needs to be paired with Siphi if not in immunity, as Siphi’s passive can remove any attack down, stun/cc, and block skill debuffs from Hegemon on his turn.

Rotos Clan Boss Build Guide

Rotos can be a serious firepower in most RSL content. In clan boss his passive allows him to stay alive for an extremely long time.

In this build he is the the main damage source. With his single hit skills, Warmaster is a necessity. To trigger as many additional attacks as possible Resurgent, Deterrence and Retribution are helpful masteries. The attack tree is standard for damage dealers on clan boss.

Gear & Stats Build

Rotos is equipped with a lifesteal set and a speed set. As the main damage source, 100% crit, high ATK and CritDmg are vital.

Higher Accuracy would be desirable (currently 200) to ensure DefDown, but for that purpose Rhazin is sufficient, so here it is not a priority. As Rotos gains 60k HP with his A2 due to his passive, HP and Def stats in his equipment are of less relevance. He is usually the last of the team to die.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Glove – crit dmg %
  • Chest – atk %
  • Boots – speed
  • Ring – def
  • Amulet – crit dmg
  • Banner – acc

Clan Boss Team & Strategy

Rotos is the secret sauce for this composition. In a speed team without unkillable or poisons his ability to take extra turns, survivability and damage makes it possible to truly shine and make the 2 key UNM possible and stable. Without Rotos, this composition can 3 key UNM, but 2 key will be quite challenging.

The team showcased below includes the following additional champions:

  1. Rhazin
  2. Apothecary
  3. Lanakis
  4. Altan
