Ma’shalled Late Game General PVE Build Guide

Ma’shalled is a Spirit affinity Legendary Champion from the Undead faction. Once a vault guardian, he went from zero to hero after his buff. He is best known for his ability to provide a permanent Increase Speed buff to your team and enabling a variety of 2:1 Clan Boss teams dubbed the White Whale compositions.

However, aside from his use in Clan Boss, he is also remarkably useful in all dungeon content. He provides team buffs, AOE control through True Fear, Healing through Leech and damage. Booking Ma’shalled can also be relatively cheap if you’re lucky as only his A2 needs to be booked and it only requires one book. This guide will focus on using Ma’shalled in Minotaur, Dragon, Fire Knight, Ice Golem, Arena and Faction Wars. The CB guide is covered separately due to specific speed and setup.

Masteries

Masteries for Ma’shalled can vary slightly depending on where he will be used. The masteries shown in this guide are specifically for Dungeon PVE and Clan Boss. For this build, the offense and defense tree are selected.

In the Offense tree, Crit rate, Crit Damage, and all the damage increasing masteries on the left down to T6 Warmaster. For the Defense tree, take the Damage mitigation mastery in Tough Skin, Blastproof, Delayed Death to improve survivability into both T5 counterattack Masteries.

Gear & Stats Build

Gearing Ma’shalled for Dungeon content is quite straight forward. You want to build with fast enough to go before enemies with enough accuracy to land his debuffs and damage which means Speed, Accuracy, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, and Attack.

220+ Speed, 220+ Accuracy, 100% Crit Rate, 200%+ Crit Damage, and 4k+ Attack are recommended for Late Game+. Sets are very flexible for Ma’shalled. You can use any stat increasing sets such as Speed, Perception, Cruel, Crit Damage, etc.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Glove: Crit Rate %/Crit Damage %
  • Chest: Attack %
  • Boots: Speed
  • Ring: Attack
  • Amulet: Crit Damage
  • Banner: Accuracy/Attack

Minotaur 15

Minotaur is an area of the game where you can utilize your energy efficiently by farming mastery for a new champion you’re building while leveling them up. Fully Mastering a champion take ~700 Gems worth of Energy refill which is cheaper than the 800 gem to unlock masteries. Additionally, you gain the experience and silver from farming the mastery.

A lv.1 champion will be leveled to lv.53 when you fully Master it. Ma’shalled is one of few champions who can solo farm Minotaur 15 with the champion you’re farming scrolls for.

Dragon 20

Although Ma’shalled is weak affinity in Dragon 20, he is still perfectly usable there. His CC debuff (True Fear) does not require hitting the enemy so it cannot weak hit. He provides his buffs to speed up your team and increase their damage. However, he will have difficulty dealing damage to the waves, so you shouldn’t use him as your only DPS champions. Bring other champions for the DPS role.

This is an example of a budget Dragon 20 team:

  1. Ma’shalled provides the utility mentioned above.
  2. Zargala as the Decrease Def and DPS.
  3. Kael also as DPS and Poisons.
  4. Frozen Banshee purely for Poisons on the Dragon.
  5. Scyl for support.

Dragon 25

With the release of Stage 25 Dungeons, Dragon 25 is now Force affinity and Ma’shalled becomes better here as he is strong affinity here. Stage 25 is much harder than stage 20 and will require better quality champion and gear to efficient farm. A strong example team composition is as follows:

  1. Ma’shalled providing the same utility as in dragon 20.
  2. We now have Arbiter for support, healing, TM Boost, and revives.
  3. Stag Knight for AOE Decrease Defense and Decrease Attack.
  4. Ithos for DPS.
  5. Occult Brawler purely for Poison against the Dragon.

The strategy from dragon 20 to dragon 25 remains the same, but we are using champions that are better against Force Affinity now.

Ice Golem 20

Ma’shalled is a good champion for Ice Golem 20. He is great for the waves before we reach the boss. He provides CC debuff (True Fear) and DPS on the waves. He increases your team’s speed and damage with his buffs and places leech so your team can heal up after getting hit by the Ice Golem. A good example of a team for ice golem 20 using Ma’shallah is as follows:

  1. Ma’shalled provides utility.
  2. Stag Knight provide AOE Decrease Defense, Decrease Attack and Decrease Speed.
  3. Gorgorab and Scyl supports with Increase Attack, TM Boost, healing, and revive if things go south.
  4. Fenax as a damage dealer with added utility to kill off the minions and block revive.

Fire Knight 20

Ma’shalled is a great champion for Fire Knight 20. Although he doesn’t have multi hit abilities to help take down the shield, he is great for the waves before we reach the boss. He is strong affinity, provides CC debuff (True Fear) and DPS on the waves. He provides increase speed buffs so your team can lap the Fire Knight and prevent him from taking a turn. Below is a budget fire knight 20 team that is good to use:

  1. Ma’shalled provides utility.
  2. Stag Knight for AOE Decrease Defense, Decrease Attack, and Decrease Speed.
  3. Gorgorab and Scyl supports with Increase Attack, TM Boost, healing, and revive.
  4. Coldheart as the must include in all FK 20 teams with her multi-hit A1 and Heartseeker to drop TM and deal massive damage to the Fire Knight.

Fire Knight 25

With the release of Stage 25 Dungeons, Fire Knight 25 is now Spirit affinity so, Ma’shalled is still usable here. Stage 25 is much harder than stage 20 and will require better quality champion and gear to efficiently farm. Additionally, the Bosses have passives that halves TM reduction on them and limits Max HP Damage to 10% making CH who used the be the number one MVP for Fire Knight, no longer as auto-include here. An example team is as follows:

  1. Ma’shalled providing utility.
  2. Arbiter for support, healing, TM Boost, and revives.
  3. Stag Knight still here for the important AOE Decrease Defense, Decrease Attack and Decrease Speed.
  4. Ithos for DPS.
  5. Alure to drop the Fire Knight’s TM.

The strategy has changed from the Coldheart Max HP Nuke back to the Alure TM control strategy. One thing to note here is that the first wave of Fire Knight 25 have Gnarlhorns who can place unkillable on themselves. If you are using Alure and your team don’t have a debuff remover, Alure will constantly lower the Gnarlhorn’s TM and you’ll be stuck. Ma’shalled can steal buffs so this team shouldn’t fall into this problem. However, right now his AI doesn’t use the skill and we have to wait for this bug to be fixed.

A great solution to the Unkillable Gnarlhorn problem is replacing Arbiter with Gorgorab. Gorgorab provides the same utility as Arbiter and his A1 has the ability to remove enemy buffs. You will need to build Gorgorab with accuracy for this to work. Additionally, Gorgorab does not provide as much TM Boost as Arbiter, so you may need to speed up your team more, especially your Alure.

Arena guide for Ma’shallah

While Ma’shalled can be scary in Arena for mid-game level players this is usually due to their team setups. He is not the best arena champion because he is not specialized as a nuker or debuffer.

He is a conditional nuker and a conditional CC champion. If you want him to nuke with his AOE, he needs to land his Leech on all enemies first, which means he needs accuracy. If you build him with accuracy, his damage stats will suffer and will most likely not do enough damage to nuke the enemies. Without accuracy, all his abilities are just single target hits with no added effect which makes him terrible for arena in Late Game+ setting and Platinum for example.

On the other hand, if you build him as a CC champion with high speed and accuracy another problem appears with his type of CC. True Fear only has a 50% chance to proc. This means that even if you land your True Fear on all enemies, you are still depending on RNG for the True Fear to proc. You may get unlucky, and the True Fear does absolutely nothing.

Masteries

If you do decide to use him for Arena the following masteries are suggested: In the Offense tree Arena nuker masteries in Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Heart of Glory, Ruthless Ambush, down to T6 Helmsmasher (if you have 100% Crit Rate and over 220%+ Crit Damage).

We then take the Support tree for the accuracy masteries, and most importantly Evil Eye. Evil eye will proc the single target version on all enemies (20% TM reduction) on Ma’shalled.

ma'shalled arena masteries

Although he is not viable at high level arena, he can still be used Pre-Gold 4 or lower Gold 4 Arena if you don’t have better champions.

Team Build

The champions used are Arbiter, Seeker, Psylar, and Ma’shalled. The strategy of this team is to Control the enemy team and slowly chip at the enemy rather than a speed nuke.

  1. Arbiter TM Boosts.
  2. Seeker is the secondary TM Boost and provokes a priority target, usually the enemy Arbiter.
  3. Psylar then Decreases the enemy TM and Speed.
  4. Ma’shalled then uses his True Fear and asses the situation to decide whether to AOE (If all the enemies got True Feared) or A3 to single target nuke a priority target (the one that is not True Feared or their Nuker).

2:1 Unkillable Clan Boss Guide

Ma’shalled is a key champion in enabling various 2:1 ratio CB compositions (both Unkillable and non-Unkillable kind) due to his ability to provide a permanent 30% Increase Speed buff to the team and Leech debuff skill on the CB that allows to forego Lifesteal gear for non-unkillable teams.

If you are using Ma’shalled for CB booking him fully is required for best results. The following sections of the guide will cover him in such compositions. This Guide focuses on Ma’shalled in an Unkillable CB setting and a team called DeaconSaladEater that requires this specific combination of champions to function.

Masteries

For Masteries, the Offense and Defense trees are the ideal choice. Support tree is usable if you are unable to achieve the required speed but as with all speed tuned teams, the TM boosting masteries should be avoided.

In the Offense tree choose the standard CB damage masteries in Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Heart of Glory and all the left masteries down to T6 Warmaster. In the Defense tree, choose the damage mitigation masteries in Tough Skin, Black Proof, and Delayed Death. These masteries are extemely important for non-unkillable teams to last until rounds 50+ on UNM CB. Then we take both T5 Counterattack masteries that will be relevant for unkillable teams that don’t have CA buffs permanently in the comp.

2:1 Unkillable Clan Boss masteries for ma'shallah

Gear & Stats Build

For an unkillable team, Gear sets are much more flexible for Ma’shalled. There are no specific gear sets required. You can gear him with any gear that helps your achieve the desired stats such as Cruel, Perception, Speed, Crit Damage, etc.

As for stats, the most important stat to achieve is the correct speed. You need to reach the speed number depending on the type of 2:1 speed tune you are using. You may or may not need to build him with Accuracy but it is highly recommend to do so as Ma’shalled is still usable in other content in the game in this case. Additionally, his A3 does increased damage if he is able to steal the buff from the CB on affinity and his Leech Debuff helps your allies heal enough to trigger the CA mastery. So, aiming for at least 225+ Accuracy is useful.

Once you have achieved the required Speed and Accuracy stats, you can finally build him to do damage. Build him with 100% Crit Rate or as close as you can, with as much Attack and Crit Damage as possible. Ma’shalled can deal significant amount of damage due to his high damage multipliers.

Recommended Main Stats:

  • Glove: Crit Damage %
  • Chest: Attack %
  • Boots: Attack % / Speed
  • Ring: Attack
  • Amulet: Crit Damage
  • Banner: Attack / Accuracy

You cannot use Refresh jewellery as Ma’shalled with this build as he needs to cycle his abilities in a certain sequence

Team Composition

This is the DeaconSaladEater team with 4 core champions (Deacon, Ma’shalled, x2 Maneater) and one DPS champion of choice. The DPS slot should ideally be able to provide Weaken as Deacon already provides Decrease Defense. Champions like Dracomorph, Fayne, Brakus, Jintoro and others can fill this role. The speed settings used for this team are:

  • 205 Deacon
  • 271 Maneater
  • 271 Maneater
  • 219 Ma’shalled
  • 182 Turvold

The is a team combination that takes advantage Deacon’s Speed Aura, TM Boost and Ma’shalled’s constant increase Speed Buff to allow the team to go at a 2:1 ratio. Additionally, Deacon provides Decrease Defense and Ma’shalled provides DPS. The Maneaters’ alternate their Unkillable and Block Debuffs every turn allowing this team to be unkillable for the entire run and affinity friendly. Turvold brings the Weaken and is the main DPS for this team.

This team works on UNM, NM, Brutal and on all affinities and can 1 key any of them.
