Khoronar Late Game Build Guide

Khoronar is a versatile and interesting champion that can be used in a variety of content. He is an HP based champion allowing you to pump his damage with the Health stat making him a safe option for most areas where you use him. He is Void and cannot weak hit.

There are a number of different ways to build Khoronar. He can take a role of pure CC champion in a Provoke or a Stun set. In those cases you can opt in for Fearsome Presence to maximise the chances of that happening. In this guide we’ll be covering a more hybrid approach that also focuses on some additional DPS and solo clear of content.

Skills

Khoronar has an AOE attack on A1. A2 provokes all enemies and self buffs Increase Def and Block Debuffs. A3 places Decrease ATK and Decrease DEF on the enemies who have the former debuff. Thanks to his passive skill, Khoronar will counterattack enemies that have the Decrease DEF, ATK or SPD debuff. All this making him a great champion for PvE content. Additionally, if Minaya is on the team all the skills get upgrades including double attack on A1 and always Counterattacking on the Passive.

Masteries

For maximum effectiveness in PvE, he will need the Warmaster T6 talent of the offensive branch for more damage on Bosses. Whirlwind of Death and Wrath of the Slain will be useful to us for additional damage. The second branch can be Support, as we will need masteries for Accuracy to place debuffs, as well as Arcane Celerity and Spirit Haste. Skills that grant bonuses for the death of allies will help us solo through some of the content.

Gear & Stats Build

Lifesteal set is a classical PVE option to pair with Warmaster from early game onwards. AOE hits will restore Khoronar HP well enough too. Any other secondary set can be used to get the necessary stats, in this case Perception for more Accuracy. We need to reach around 220 Accuracy, around 80 Crit Rate, then focus on Health, Speed and Crit Damage. Resistance is a nice bonus, but you should not sacrifice the necessary stats for it.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Gloves – Crit Damage/Crit Rate
  • Chest – HP%
  • Boots – Speed
  • Ring – HP/ DEF
  • Amulet – Crit Damage
  • Banner – Accuracy

Dungeon Runs

Dragon 20

With provoke and counterattacks that slightly reduce enemies’ turn meter, Khoronar can keep enemies under constant CC. This allows you to keep your damage dealers alive on the waves and bring them to the Boss safely. This way you can use the team without a reviver. Here is an example of the 20 lvl of Dragon dungeon, that shows how much opponents are helpless in front of him:

  1. Khoronar for permanent provoke enemies and dps. ATK Down on the boss
  2. Frozen Banshee for Poisons to fast Dragon kill

You can use the 3 free slots for food champions or use dps champions to improve the run time in this dungeon;

Fire Knight 20

Fire Knight is a more difficult location and it won’t work out with only 2 champions, but the plan is the same, permanent provoking of enemies on the wave that ensure the safety of our damage dealers on the way to the Boss. This example of a team for 20 lvl of Fire Knight dungeon:

  1. Khoronar for permanent provoke on enemy waves and dps
  2. Apothecary for increase Speed buff on allies
  3. Fayne for Decrease DEF and Weaken debuffs to help our dps champions deal more damage
  4. Double Coldhearts for 4-hit A1, max HP damage and TM depletion

Spider 20

In the Spider dungeon, due to Provoke, Khoronar can absorb the damage from the spiderlings while your damage dealers deal damage to the Boss. This example of a team for 20 lvl of Spider’s Den:

  1. Khoronar for permanent provoke spiderlings
  2. Renegade for Decrease the cooldown of allies skills
  3. Fayne for Decrease DEF and Weaken debuffs to help our dps champions deal more damage
  4. Double Coldhearts for 4-hit A1, max HP damage and TM depletion

Ice Golem 20

One of the most unorthodox uses of Khoronar is to level up food champions on 20 level of the Ice Golem dungeon simultaneously geting artifacts and food champions. You can also get points in both the dungeon divers event and champion training events and tournaments. In this way your use of energy becomes efficient.

Unfortunately, at levels 24 and 25, such a trick cannot be done with Khoronar, since Khoronar activates the golem’s passive skill before killing his minions and taking too much damage. The time it takes is roughly 3 minutes. While definitely not a speed run, this can be an option for you.

Solo Faction Wars

Khoronar is an excellent champion for completing Faction Wars. He is so strong he can solo the 21st floor himself making this faction a cakewalk if you add some more supporting champions and alleviating the need for other legendaries.

On the waves, Khoronar does not give a chance to enemies to take a turn due to Provoke, and on the boss himself, he quickly destroys the boss’s minions. Of course, the Boss will swap the hit points at some point. However, with decent stats shown in this build it is possible not to die even at low hp values, and after the second swap, the Boss without a full health bar will no longer cause trouble. Do not forget that the Boss places Fear debuff, so Resistance of about 300+ is needed here.

For successful copying of this run, you need to use the team presets and turn off A2 on the Boss itself.

Arena Teams & Tactics

In Arena, Khoronar has two primary usecases.

  • He can work as damage dealer in defensive teams, but in this case, we need Minaya to attack twice. This would radically change the gear and masteries compared to the featured build and wouldn not be very fast, more like a stall team.
  • The second option that can be used without changes is the CC role for enemies with Provoke on A2;

By provoking, Khoronar prevents enemy champions from using their skills, allowing our main damage dealer to survive until his turn. The advantage of this tactic is that our damage dealer does not have to be set up with high speed and can use Atk% boots, which significantly increases his damage. Here is a speed team Gold 5 example:

  1. Deacon Armstrong for SPD aura, tm manipulation and AOE Decrease DEF debuff
  2. Seeker for filing the Turn Meter of allies and Increase ATK buff
  3. Khoronar for provoking all enemies
  4. Yannica for dps

Clan Boss Teams & Strategies

Demon Lord

Khoronar is not an ideal champion for a Demon Lord clan boss. However, he can be used there, thanks to the Decrease ATK and DEF debuffs. This can help keep this debuff permanently on the boss as an additional insurance for your main debuffer.

Since Khoronar almost always counters the boss when he gets hit by him, a NM team was the testbed without Counterattack for his effectiveness. In this example, Khoronar speed was tuned so that it would fit into the correct rotation. Here is the team composition, roles and stats:

  1. Sepulcher Sentinel with 240 Speed, lifesteal+speed sets + WM T6, for Decrease ATK debuff and Increase DEF and Block Debuffs buff.
  2. Khoronar with 233 Speed, lifesteal+perception sets + WM T6, for dps and Decrease ATK debuff some times.
  3. Sandlashed Survivor with 181 Speed, lifesteal set + WM T6, for increasing the duration of all ally buffs.
  4. Frozen Banshee with 171 Speed, lifesteal set + WM T6, for Poisons and dps.
  5. Rhazin Scarhide with 233 Speed, lifesteal + speed sets + GS T6, for Decrease DEF and Weaken debuffs plus dps.

Hydra

On Hydra clan boss Khoronar can be great. He has AOE Decrease ATK debuff which will help our team survive the Hydra’s heavy hits, Provoke debuff which will help us feel more comfortable against Head of Decay and his A1 AOE attacks deal decewnt damage with Warmaster. Together this is enough to take the last chest on Normal difficulty without issues in a budget setting with some epic champions. Here is an team example:

  1. Sandlashed Survivor for Ally Protection buff, useful aura, provoke on A1.
  2. Golden Reaper for Increase SPD buff and Decrease ATK debuff.
  3. Rector Drath for reviving, heal and Perfect Veil buff.
  4. Khoronar for dps, provoke and Decrease ATK debuff.
  5. Shatterbones for Decrese SPD debuff and dps.
