Brakus Clan Boss Build Guide

Brakus is a Force affinity Legendary Skinwalker that has the most multi-hitting ability in the game. He has 2 multi-hit abilities, one that hits 3 times and one that hits 6 times on a single target. Besides that, these skills also provide some utility by providing Inc Atk to your allies for 3 turns and apply Weaken, Fear, and True Fear debuff if built for accuracy. He also has a unique passive which allows his to revive himself, immediately take a turn when killed and does 40% more damage when he’s low.

Unfortunately, he requires one of the highest amount of Legendary books in the game to max out at 16 and booking him is almost required as it exponentially improves his performance by lowering both his ability cooldowns. If you do decide to book him, you can stop once his A2 and A3 are maxed out. Single target nukers like Brakus are not ideal for dungeon/wave content, so where he truly shines are in Arena and against the Clan Boss.

This guide will showcase Brakus various unkillable Clan Boss comps (Brakus does not fit well in non-unkillable teams as he has very low base Defense), in Arena Defense and Faction Wars.

Masteries

Masteries on Brakus will differ depending on where you use him. This portion of the guide will first focus on using Brakus on Clan Boss. We will take the Offense and Defense Tree. For the Offence tree, take the standard Crit Rate, Crit Damage, damage increasing masteries on the left down to the T6 Giantslayer as Brakus has many multi-hit abilities. For the Defense tree, take the standard damage mitigation masteries of Tough Skin, Blastproof, Resurgent and Delayed Death so that we can get down down to the T5 Retribution Mastery for a chance to Counterattack which is especially valuable for Unkillable comps.

Gear & Stats Build

The best gear set to use on Brakus is Reflex set to lower the cooldowns on his abilities because most of his damage comes from his multi-hit abilities’ Giantslayer procs. So, the more times he can use his abilities, the more damage he can do. Following the same logic, Refresh Accessories are extremely valuable on him. It is worth sacrificing some stats to equip the Refresh Accessories on him. For his secondary set, you can use any stat increasing set or broken pieces that help achieve the stats you need such as Cruel, Perception, Crit Damage, etc.

The most important stat to have on him for an Unkillable team is speed. Make sure he has the right speed to meet your CB speedtune. Then, build him with 100% Crit Rate and as much Crit Damage and Atk as possible. If you need him to apply the Weaken Debuff, build him with at least 225 Accuracy as well.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Glove: Crit Damage %
  • Chest: Atk %
  • Boots: Speed/Atk %
  • Ring: Attack
  • Amulet: Crit Damage
  • Banner: Attack / Accuracy

Unkillable Clan Boss Comp 1 (Deacon Salad-eater)

Brakus fits perfectly in the Deacon Salad-eater comp as he provides the Weaken debuff which this comp lacks and an Increase Attack buff to all allies to improve the damage of the entire Attack-based team. This is a comp based around Deacon Armstrong’s Speed aura, TM increase, and Ma’shalled’s permanent Increase Speed Buff to enable the 2:1 ratio and the Maneaters to place their Unkillable buffs at the end of each turn. This comp is affinity friendly, and works on Brutal, NM, and UNM.

The speeds used are:

  • Deacon: 204
  • Brakus: 181
  • Ma’shalled: 219
  • Maneater 1: 272
  • Maneater 2: 271

You don’t have to follow the exact same speed, there is some wiggle room in the speeds.

Unkillable Clan Boss Comp 2 (Fu-Myth Seeker)

Brakus can also be used in the new Fu-Myth Seeker Unkillable CB comp (Fu-shan/Seeker/Demytha/Heiress) as a DPS slot. Although he doesn’t fit as well since this comp already has an Increase Attack buff from Seeker, and this is a block damage unkillable team so he won’t get low enough to reach his passive threshold to do 40% more damage, he still provides the Weaken debuff which this team lacks.

This is a comp based around Fu-shan’s Speed aura, Heiress; Increase Speed buff and debuff removal, Seeker’s TM Boosting, and Demytha’s Buff Extension and Block Damage buff to enable the 3:1/2:1 ratio of this comp which places Block Damage before the CB hits and removing debuffs immediately after the CB places it. This comp is affinity friendly, works on Brutal, NM, and UNM, and is also full-auto with AI Preset.

The speeds used are:

  • Fu-shan: 185
  • Brakus: 172
  • Seeker: 185
  • Heiress: 263
  • Demytha: 291

You don’t have to follow the exact same speed, there is some wiggle room in the speeds, similar to the previous composition.

Faction Wars Team & Strategy

Brakus is a DPS powerhouse for Skinwalkers Faction Wars 21. The boss on this stage is able to transfer debuffs and swap HP but this ability is on a 12-turn cooldown. After bringing the Boss low enough for it to use this swap HP ability, it becomes a DPS race where you need to kill the boss before he gets this ability again.

  1. Brakus is able to power through and deal the necessary DPS to bring down the boss fast enough before the boss has this ability off cooldown again.
  2. Fayne helps with providing single target Debuffs against the boss (Decrease Defense, Weaken, Poison) which increase your DPS tremendously and the Decrease Attack lets you take less damage.
  3. Basher helps control the waves leading up to the boss by increasing their cooldowns.
  4. Steelskull provides sustain through AOE and single target heals.
  5. Norog offers damage mitigation and is a secondary DPS.

This team in a Skinwalker 21 stage is regularly done on auto but if you need to complete this stage for the first time, you should consider manualing the stage and time placing Fayne’s debuffs after the boss uses the transfers Debuffs skill. Having all the Debuffs Fayne placed transferred back to your team may cause your team to take too much damage and die.

Brakus Arena Build Guide

Brakus is a Force affinity single target nuker with a strong defensive utility in Arena. He works well in go second Arena teams like his more popular counterparts Candraphon and Rotos. He is currently not at the height of his popularity, but is still a viable niche counter in both Classic Arena and Tag Team Arena Defence.

Masteries

For Arena, we will select the typical Arena nuker masteries in the Offence and Defence trees. The most important Offense tree mastery is the T6 Helmshamsher, and the most important T5 Defense tree masteries are Retribution and Deterrence for a chance to counterattack. The rest of the masteries can differ depending on the preference and specific team composition. Masteries featured below for this build work well enough on defence.

Gear & Stats Build

The preferred item set to use Brakus for Arena is the Swift Parry set. Swift Parry synergises well with his passive granting increased damage when below 40% health, and in general Swift Parry adds a layer of unpredictability in Arena Defence, which can be really annoying for enemies and result in unexpected losses for the enemy. The second choice would be savage set, which will add alot more pure damage in optimal scenarios, but wont be as unpredictable and stall oriented as Swift Parry. For the 2 piece set bonus, the most optimal choices are Cruel and if that is not available, the Critical Damage set.

You’ll build Brakus as you would with any nuker, Crit capped with as much Attack, Speed, and Crit Damage as possible. Building accuracy on him for his Weaken and Fear debuffs is optional but not mandatory. With an Accuracy of around 200, you’ll normally be able to land those debuffs on enemy champions that have not built any resistance. However, building for pure damage and ignoring accuracy is preferred.

As for accessories, Reaction accessories are extremely valuable for the Arena meta now, It is worth equipping these accessories at the cost of losing some stats.

Arena Team & Strategy

Brakus passive Revives him on death and grants him increased damage when below 40% health through his Passive. The increased damage on low health synergises with him being Force affinity and getting weak hit by commonly used magic nukers, swift parry set, reaction accessories and the revive from his own passive, making him an effective revenge killer for go second teams.

He is commonly paired with a second nuker like Rotos/Candraphon/Mountain King, a reviver like Duchess/Arbiter and Lydia. Lydia synergises especially well with Brakus because of her passive blocking enemy revive. Brakus has only single target damage and the AI will target weak affinity and lowest hp targets, which generally results in him targeting and killing the enemy Magic affinity nuker when he gets a turn. Lydia passive in this situation will seal the deal and prevent the enemy team from reviving and making a comeback.
