Raid Shadow Legends: Archmage Hellmut Champion Guide

Archmage Hellmut is an epic magic affinity champion from the banner lords faction in Raid Shadow Legends. He is a great all round champion and can fit efficiently into a variety of team compositions at a variety of different types of content around the game. Hellmuts A3 ability is strong, providing increased critical rate, increased critical damage and increased speed buff. This champion is particularly effective when paired with Seer, as he can be used to feed these buffs to the champion. Furthermore, his A2 provides a 50% chance to stun an opponent or drop their turn meter by 20% if the stun is missed.

Additionally, the use of Archmage Hellmuts kit makes him immune to any turn meter decreasing effects, this makes him a good option for the arena against teams that include Valkyrie or Lyssandra.

Archmage Hellmut Late Game+ Guide

Archmage Helmut can only be obtained by getting enough fragments in the Doom Tower. At the same time he is one of the most useful champions in Normal Doom Tower fragment rotations and can be widely useful in a variety of setting as demonstrated in the guide.

Skills

In this guide we will mainly use him with Kymar to reset his A3 so that defeats booking value because the goal is to instantly kill every wave and he doesn’t use other skills. With that being said however, Archmage is definitely worth the books as his skills gain tremendous value from them, especially the A3 if you are using him generally without Seer in other areas of the game.

Masteries

Archmage is one of the few champions that doesn’t care much about masteries, especially when paired with Seer as she will strip all his buffs anyway, making masteries like Lasting Gifts effectively useless. This same logic is applied to the Offense and Defense tree. Defense is mainly to keep you alive and counter attack: we don’t care because Seer kills everything. Offense tree is not super useful as Archmage does no damage and everything is dead before he can hit anything with Warmaster and ideally he dies fast on boss stage to save animation time.

A generic recommended tree for Hellmut will be added if you want to mastery him regardless, but it’s only really useful if you aren’t using him with Seer.

The masteries below are primarily about allowing him to cycle his skills and turns, Fearsome Presence gives more stun chance on his A2, but pretty much everything else is about making him faster, or impacting his cooldowns.

Gear & Stats Build

Because Hellmut is used as a buffer for Seer to strip and instantly kill waves in this team, his stats are basically meaningless except for Speed. The only thing we care about is him having more Speed than Seer, which really isn’t too hard.

Its recommended to use Perception or Speed sets with Speed Substats and Speed boots. Accuracy is required if you want him to land his Stun on A2. Shield set or Immunity to provide more buffs are also good options. For general PVE without Seer a Stun set is another viable option.

Recommended Main Stats

  • Gloves: HP%
  • Chest: Accuracy
  • Boots: Speed
  • Ring: Health
  • Amulet: Health
  • Banner: Accuracy with Speed substat

Recommended Sets

  • Perception / Speed

Archmage Hellmut Late Game+ Dungeon Runs

For this section we will look at Archmage Hellmut in IG, Dragon and FK 25. The goal of this Guide is to showcase Hellmut primarily paired with Seer to make dungeon runs very fast.

Dragon 25

For Dragon, we want Poisons primarily as our main way of killing the boss himself, so its ideal to bring 1 Champ that has a lot of Poisons. In this run we are using Tomb Lord. We also bring Bad El Kazar for more Buffs Seer can use, and more Poisons for the boss. Bad El isn’t required for this as both of those jobs can be performed by someone else – For example, Lydia providing Poison Sensitivity for the boss and additional buffs/debuffs for Seers nuke.

Team Build

As you can see, there are many roles where Pythion is up to the task:

  1. Bad El Kazar – Poisoner for the boss, and Buffer for Seer. As mentioned above, Lydia is a free option and depending on how many Poisons you can get out from your DPS champ, could be a strictly better option.
  2. Kymar – Provides reset between Wave 1 – 2. He also brings some more Poisons, but this isn’t required, a Renegade would do this job just fine.
  3. Tomb Lord – Provides a Decrease Defense for the waves, but if you’re using Lydia this portion of his kit isn’t required. His main role is just pumping Poisons into the boss, you could use someone like Richtoff, or even epics such as Rowan or Aothar instead.
  4. Seer – She is core to this team in conjunction with Hellmut. She is capable of one-shotting waves, then with the Kymar reset skills, we can also one-shot the 2nd wave, meaning that the only part of the fight left is the boss.

Ice Golem 25

For Ice Golem, the run is almost identical to Dragon. There are a couple of differences though. For this run, the 2nd wave has Seekers that place Increase Defense after the buff strip, which actually means that you may not 1 shot that wave. For this reason, Lydia is highly recommended as the addition of Weaken compared to Tomb Lord will mean you can instantly kill that wave. However, even if the wave survives it won’t have much health so its not a massive time loss.

The other thing to consider is how to deal with the boss. In this case, we are using Bad-El-Kazar as he has been setup to be tanky and fast, to make sure he can solo the boss. Due to how this team is set up, we want everyone else to die when they get to the boss as that means the boss will take more turns, and die to Poisons much faster.

Team Build

His main role is just pumping Poisons into the boss, you could use someone like Richtoff, or even epics like Rowan or Aothar instead.
  4. Seer – She is core to this team in conjunction with Hellmut. She is capable of 1 shotting waves, then with the Kymar reset skills, we can also 1 shot the 2nd wave, meaning that the only part of the fight left is the boss.

Fire Knight 25

For Fire Knight, we still use the same basic combo of Seer + Hellmut instantly clearing waves. The difference comes in how we do damage to the boss as we don’t really want him taking a turn, so we use Max HP hits instead. This isn’t the fastest strategy, but its still pretty fast, especially compared to a normal team taking sometimes 5-10 minutes. This team is run with only a couple having Warmaster/Giantslayer however, so if you used that Mastery more, it would speed it up even more.

Team Build

  1. Royal Guard – His Aura is really nice to speed things up, but he’s used for his Max HP hit alongside Seer, so he is our main boss damage. The Decrease Speed Debuff he brings is also nice.
  2. Alure – Disable her A2 and A3 on the boss round, and make sure she only uses her A1, she basically prevents the boss from ever getting a turn on her own.
  3. Lydia – Decrease Defense and Weaken for the waves. But she also gives more buffs for Seer to strip, making her a solid choice for this team.
  4. Seer – Hellmut + Her combo to kill all waves instantly. She also does some damage to the boss with the Max HP hit, just remember it’s capped in 21+ so you don’t want to rely on her for boss damage.

Spider 20

Spider’s Den dungeon not easy to pass if you don’t have a good team or the right champions. One of the budget tactics is to put one opposing affinity champion on the boss that can survive spiderlings attacks. Pythion is well suited for this task at stage 20 due to Force affinity. Having both debuff cleansing and Block Debuff buff negates lots of damage from spidelings debuffs.

Team Build

Here is an example of a budget tactic composition for Spider 20:

  1. Pythion for tanking damage from spiderlings and also for healing, cleansing plus revive.
  2. Seeker for tm boost.
  3. Bivald of the Thorn for healing and Shield buff.
  4. Stag Knight for AOE decrease ATK plus Def and SPD debuffs.
  5. Coldheart to decrease the turn meter and quickly kill the Boss with MAX HP skill.

Doom Tower with Hellmut + Seer

For this section we look at Hellmut + Seer in Hard Doom Tower. The concept is exactly the same as Dungeons, it’s just Buffs > Decrease Defense > Nuke > Reset > Repeat.

Floor 81

The team setup we are using for Doom Tower is almost identical to Dungeons, the difference is the slot we were using Tomb Lord for a damage dealer, we don’t need, since we can rely on Seer. What you will need to keep in mind however are Passives like Tormin, Hegemon, and the fact you will be going into the 3rd Round without one-shotting it.

Because of this the Tomb Lord slot in this case is taken by Umbral Enchantress for controlling the 3rd wave until we get out cooldowns back. However you can use anyone. Maulie provides Crowd Control, Duchess can protect your team, Scyl can protect your team with Stuns. Helicath can Block Damage. You basically just want to use a champion to buy you time to get your cooldowns back.

Team Build

  • Archmage Hellmut
  • Umbral Enchantress
  • Prince Kynar
  • Lydia
  • Seer

Kymar + Seer + Hellmut + Lydia are the core of our nuke team, as mentioned in the dungeon run section, our goal is to Buff the team as much as we can, then Seer nukes, then we refresh. The only difference here is Umbral Enchantress, that as mentioned above can be a number of Champions, your goal is just to buy time. If you wanted you could even use a 2nd Renegade/Kymar in this slot to instantly kill the 3rd wave as well.

Faction Wars

Stage 21

For this last showcase we will look at Hellmut in Faction Wars 21.

Stage 21 Bannerlords can be pretty hard without a reviver, and the Faction only has 2, both being Void. Hellmut provides enough control that can actually make you not require any if you have a healer. The single biggest issue for people passing this is in the first wave is a Torturehelm, he can one-shot pretty much any squishy champion. You need to control him.

On the boss, the left minion AoE’s pretty hard when he attacks, but the right one single targets and hits incredibly hard. You need to be prioritising killing the right one if you don’t have a revive, if you’re trying to 3* or use CC to avoid damage.

Team Build

  1. Ursala – Mainly here for a Revive, she also brings Decrease Attack but we are using 2 other champs with it so it’s less relevant.
  2. Oathbound – He is built as our damage for this Faction, you can use whoever, but he hits pretty hard and brings a lot of Crowd Control.
  3. Sethalia – As mentioned, a healer is very nice for this Faction, Minaya is the other amazing healer. Commander is an Uncommon with a heal you can bring as well, however, you’re probably better off at that point looking for Lifesteal or Immortal/Regen sets.
  4. Stag Knight – Decrease Defense, Decrease Attack and Decrease Speed. Basically every Debuff we want to make this go smoothly. However the only required one really is Decrease Attack, so you could use someone else if you’re already using a champ that covers this.
